Volunteers Needed! SignUp.Com is Active

Orientation June 3: Session 1 from 10-11:30; Session 2 from 2-3:30 pm.

Our 2023 summer season starts June 5, and we are in need of volunteers for horse leaders, sidewalkers and horse care. Whether you are a returning volunteer or coming out for the first time, we need you to fill out an application and attend an orientation/training session. You can find an application here or fill one out at the orientation on June 3 (10 am or 2 pm). Come meet our Program Director, Janie Call, Executive Director, Doug Stewart, and some of the nicest horses in Anchorage!

Orientation: Volunteers will work with horses and experienced volunteers to learn/review horse handling and safety, grooming, haltering, sidewalking, and working with therapists and clients. You MUST wear closed toe shoes in order to be around our horses, so please dress appropriately.

Volunteer Sign Up is Active!

Have you submitted your 2022 Volunteer Application? If so, you are already entered in the on-line Sign Up system. Just go to SignUp.com and see what jobs and times are available, then sign up for what you want to do.

New Volunteers, please RSVP for a spot during one of the three Volunteer Orientations. Returning volunteers are also encouraged to attend for a refresher course.

Back to the Ranch Fundraiser

Goal: $4000 for transportation costs.

Our little herd has worked tirelessly all summer (see photos), and now it’s time for them to head for winter pasture. Program Director Janie Call boards them at her ranch in Oregon and works with them all winter to keep them in shape for the next therapy season. At their winter home, they are able to enjoy pasture life, a milder climate, and time to bond as a herd. It’s a win/win for horses and riders!

How you can help

It costs $800 per horse to trailer them down the AlCan, which is a savings compared to the cost of boarding them in Alaska. Three of our horses have already had their transportation paid. Can you help with these others? We would appreciate any donations toward the total cost of $4000, so that we can provide our horses with the best care and keep them in shape for the 2022 therapy season.
